He was predeceased by: his parents, Aurelia Vargas and Hippilito Vargas; his wife Gloria Vargas; and his siblings, Benjamin Vargas, Hope Crogan, Cecelia Vargas, Inez Vargas, Elvira Gonzalez, Josephine Zlateff and Rita Vargas.
He is survived by: his siblings, Robert Vargas (Josephine Vargas), Richard Vargas (Dorthy Vargas), Guadalupe Sanchez, Consuela Shoffner, Mary Sanchez, Celia Jones and Irene Gibbs (Fred Gibbs); and his children, Victoria Vargas (Hayes), Teresa Sukra (Marcus Sukra), Ruben Vargas and Tina Dale. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.
