He was predeceased by: his parents, James H Ellison, Sr. and Mae Louise Ellison (Foust); his siblings, James H Ellison Jr., Michael S Ellison and Jean Gastineau; his niece Laura Carr; and his great-niece Elizabeth Henson.

He is survived by: his daughter Olivia Ellison; his siblings, Thomas Ellison of Kansas City, Patrick Ellison (Cathy) of Republic, Missouri, Judee Carr of Lawson and Margie Albertson (Dennis Jr) of Chillicothe, Missouri; and his brother-in-law Steve Gastineau of Pilot Point, Texas. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
