He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph James and Mary Louise Garrels (Heinze); his brother Alan Ray Garrels; and his sister-in-law Mary Jo Laffoon. He is survived by: his wife Verna Garrels of Kahoka; his children, Mykal Wilson (Robert) of Leeton, MO, Mikayla Dotterweich (Jason) of Palmyra, VA and Logan Garrels (Hannah Oliver) of Ephrata, WA; his grandchildren, Emma Wilson (Bryce Buell) of Warrensburg, MO, Hunter, Hayden, Graham, Brooks and Coralee; his sisters, Terri Brewer (Bill) of Kahoka, MO and Tina Forsythe (Jim) of Farmington; and his brothers-in-law, Mark Best (Cindy) of Kirksville, MO, Randy Best of Jefferson City, MO and Wayne Laffoon of Holts Summit, MO. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins.
