He was predeceased by: his parents, James Marshall and Opal Emma McDaniel (Orton); his son Randy Ray McDaniel; and his siblings, Junior McDaniel, Ellis McDaniel, Goldie Carroll, Dorothy Fetterolf and Betty Phillips.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Hayden; his children, John McDaniel Jr. (Kim) of Kahoka, Timothy Joe McDaniel (Mary Beth) of Kahoka and Debbie Gay Conger (Bill) of Kahoka; his grandchildren, Matthew McDaniel (Emily), Mandy Gessling (Andrew), Michelle Gray (Dominic), Holly Koenig (Mike), Jason McDaniel (Tracy), Ryan McDaniel, Shane McDaniel and Marcus McDaniel (Abby); his great grandchildren, Mason, Malachi, Ariabella, Gabriel, Bryna, Jameson, Gideon, Kindrick, Braelynn, Garrison, Jolene, Gavin, Hannah, Corbin, Eleanor and Baby Girl Gessling; and his brother Richard "Red" McDaniel of Luray. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and friends.
