He is survived by: his wife Margaret Glasgow; his children, Steven M. Elder of Theodosia, MO, Dan R. Elder of Chadwick, MO, James A. Elder of Kahoka, MO and Julie Ann Elder Carter of Kahoka, MO; his grandchildren, Tanya Elder Jones, Ashlee Gregory Evans, Sarah Elder, Emilie Elder, Staci Gregory and Jena Elder; and his sisters, Ruth McVey, Betty Brooks and Mildred Brooks. He is also survived by fourteen great-grandchildren.
