He was predeceased by: his parents, John Hurtt and Wilma Hurtt (Thomas); his wife Betty Jo Taylor; his siblings, Emmit Hurtt, Kenneth Hurtt, Beverly Johnson and Shirley King; and his grandson Travis Ferguson.
He is survived by: his children, Debra McCumber of Joplin, Vicky (Dan) of Galena, Russell Eugene Hurtt of Joplin and Christopher Hurtt of Joplin; and his sister Mary Ann Whiley of Herington, KS. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
