He was predeceased by: his parents, Antone Joseph Massa and Dorothy Mae Massa (Headlee) of Joplin; his daughter Ronetta Sue; and his siblings, Gary and Toni Rae.

He is survived by: his wife Sue Phillips; his children, Jon Phillips of Chattanooga, Shani Byler (Christopher) of Carl Junction and Mario (Autumn) of Joplin; his grandchildren, Sasha, Stephanie (Jake), Samuel and Zakkery; his great grandchildren, Liam, Elliot, Dillon and Laken; his sister Terri Martin (Jim) of Carterville; and his nieces, Angie Baugh, Melissa Camden of Carthage, Vicky Spear, Stacy Craine and Kelly Hance of Columbus.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mission Joplin, Forest Park Baptist Church.
