He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Olin Jesse and Sylva Nell Gates (Harvey); his son J. B. Gates (Samantha) of Joplin, MO; his grandchildren, Alan Doty (Liz), Mathew Doty and Kaylee Doty of Seneca, MO; and his great grandchildren, Aria Doty and Elliott Doty.
A memorial service was held on Thursday, April 10th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the First Baptist Church (904 Oneida St, Seneca, MO 64865).
