He was predeceased by: his parents, Tom Washburn and Flossie Washburn; his former wife June Byler; his sister Fern Monroe; his son John Washburn; his stepsons, Terrence McWhirt and Michael McWhirt; and his granddaughter Lori Vanderpool.
He is survived by: his wife JoAnn; his children, Patti Colvin Locust Grove, Sue Emmert Asbury and David; and his stepson Patrick McWhirt Springfield. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made at a local animal shelter in his name.
