She was predeceased by: her parents, James E. Colvin and Juanita M. Dailey Colvin; and her sister Sandy Hight. She is survived by: her husband Joe T. Downing; her children, Justin James Downing (Libby) of Carthage and Troby Jo Thompson of Joplin; her grandchildren, Trevor Thompson, Dustin Smith, Colton Smith, Dalton Cossey, Austin Cossey and Caitin Smith; her brother David Colvin (Claudine) of Springfield, Missouri; and her nieces and nephews, Carri Colvin, Chanse Colvin (Jessie), Kevin Hight and Jeff Hight.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association to help find a cure.
