He was predeceased by: his parents, Oren P. Scowden and Anna Simmers Harris Scowden; and his siblings, Margaret White, Barbara Jo Shell, Floyd Harris, Lloyd Harris, Donald Scowden and Dwight Scowden.
He is survived by: his spouses, Joan Lacewell and Shirley; his son David of Reeds; his stepchildren, Ginger Copeland (Bruce) of Alba and Brad Rees (Stacey) of Houston, Missouri; his grandchildren, Doti Smith, Cody Smith, Kaitlyn Scowden, Cara Morris (Chris), Brad Copeland, Elgin Rees (Sarah) and Rachel Kirkman (Dustin); his great grandchildren, Delaney Smith, Daxon, Duke, Dawson Kirkman, Beckett Morris and Macklin Morris; and his siblings, Shirley McCullough (Bucky), Rachel Carlton (Buck) of Advance and Bobby Joe Scowden (Teresa) of Jackson. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
