He was predeceased by: his parents, Emory and Ovola (Burgess); his wife Patricia Narrell; and his son Mark Compton. He is survived by: his daughter Celia Whitehead; his grandchildren, Amy Keifert, Lindsey Smith (Tyler), Matthew Compton and Nathan Compton; and his great grandchildren, Julien, William Kiefert, Crosby Smith and Kaelee Compton.
Visitation was held on Thursday, January 9th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Mason-Woodard Chapel (3701 E 7th St, Joplin, MO 64801). A funeral service was held on Thursday, January 9th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Mason-Woodard Mortuary (3701 E 7th St, Joplin, MO 64801).
