She was predeceased by: her parents, William Carpenter and Artie Mae Carpenter (Garvin); and her children, Jackie Vosey and Dexter Hanks. She is survived by: her husband Earnest Hicks of Joplin; her son Michael Hicks (Justina) of Joplin; and her grandchildren, Lela Hicks of Joplin, Reese Hicks of Joplin and Hope Jennings (Andrew) of Florence, MS. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
