He was predeceased by: his parents, Homer E. Simpson and Laurel V. Crowe (Elliott); his daughter Shalene Simpson; his brothers, James Elliott and Ronnie Ryan; and his nephew Dale Elliott.

He is survived by: his wife Lynnette Simpson; his daughters, Cindy Backes (Kevin) of Jefferson City, Laurel Simpson (Robert Hunsaker) of Jefferson City and Christine Saunders of Nv; his siblings, Mira Burghardt of Omaha and Clifford Elliott (Nancy) of Omaha; and his grandchildren, Kyle Backes, Samantha Backes, Allyson Bottoms, Logan Bottoms, Dylan Bottoms, Cameron Bottoms, Maddilyn Bottoms, Jessica Simpson and Joshua Simpson. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to charity of the donor's choice.
