He is survived by: his former spouse Shirley Gilbert; his wife Mary Gassen of Jefferson City; his children, Matthew Gassen (Megan) of Jefferson City and Jennifer Woodward (Scott) of New Bloomfield; his stepdaughters, Jennifer Borkowski (Brian) of Jerseyville, Angela Gillespie of Independence and Jessica Butts of Jefferson City; his siblings, Patricia Nieto (Ken) of Covington and Bryan Gassen of Covington; his nieces, Elizabeth Ardoin (Marc) and Emily Lubano (Chad); and his grandchildren, Lauren, Lydia (Leah Gassen), Carly (Rhett Woodward), Christian Prody, Makayla (Khloe Turner), Aisa, Nathan (Mason Gillespie) and Casey (Noah Borkowski).
