He was predeceased by: his parents, Tobias Schmitz and Margaret "Motzie" Schmitz (Schrimpf); his wife Barb; his great grandchild Tristan Backers; his brother Frank Schmitz; his siblings-in-law, Lucille Schmitz, Irma Schmitz, Joe Noonan, Bob VanderFeltz and Leonard Muenks; his nieces, Kateri Michaelson and Marcia Schweiss; and his nephew Doug Schmitz.
He is survived by: his significant other Barbara Ann Stokes; his children, Randy (Schmitz), Pam Backers (Lake), Shaun (Schmitz), Toby (Schmitz) and Brad (Schmitz); his grandchildren, Travis Backers, Ashley Raithel (Justin), Derek Schmitz (Jamie), Emily Cobb (Heath), Miranda Stevens (Kyle), Kyla Asel (Christian), Garrett Schmitz (Beth), Sabrina Frank (Nick), Gavin Schmitz, Grant Schmitz, Grayden Schmitz, Kayleen Schmitz and Nadine Schmitz; his siblings, Mary Dee Noonan and Alfred Schmitz; and his siblings-in-law, Bill Stokes (Mary Alice), Mike Stokes, Mary Eiken (Eddie), Shirley VanderFeltz and Margaret Muenks. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
When COVID shut things down, including visitor hours, Ken stepped in to become the Friday night D. J. at Primrose for his fellow residents. He never wavered in his belief and faith in God and never allowed the pandemic to prevent his Sunday worship.
