He was predeceased by: his parents, Hershel Ray and Delsie Smith (Halbrook); his daughter Linda Mertens; and his brothers, Harold Smith and Bob Steelman.
He is survived by: his spouse Miss Ellen Jean Wallis; his daughters, Diana Jenkins (Jim) of St. James, MO, Brenda Maley (Randy) of Jefferson City, MO and Sarah Smith of Columbia, MO; his grandchildren, Matt Jenkins (Tracy), Megan Nieland (David), Rebecca Bristow (Lance), Rachel Weigand (Micheal) and Jared Maley (Sara); his great grandchildren, Logan, Ty Jenkins, Audrey Nieland and Ziba Maley; and his siblings, Virginia White of Salem, MO and Jim Steelman (Christine) of Salem, MO. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
