He was predeceased by: his parents, Cecil Claud and Ressie Pearl Carlton (Barton); his son Matthew Carlton; his grandchildren, Eric and Dana Carlton; his sister Gloria Carlton; and his niece Kelly Wagers.
He is survived by: his children, Dennis Carlton of Gainsville, Cathy Stegall (Dennis) of Perryville, Ken Carlton (Tina) of Carl Junction, Cyndi Roach (Jim) of Jackson, Sheila Carlton of Columbia, Ill and Tony Gearheart of Kentucky; his stepchildren, Robert Thompson of Jefferson City and Terri Hentges of Jefferson City; and his sisters, LaVerne White of Jefferson City and Beverly Fenton of Jefferson City. He is also survived by 25 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.
