He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Burdette Sr. and Edith Marie Smith (Cremer); his wife Doris; his son Douglas B. Smith; and his siblings, Nita Claypool (Leroy), Betty Smith and Joseph Smith.
He is survived by: his children, Mark Smith of Meta, Russell Smith of Richmond, Virginia, Ronald Smith of Jefferson City, Joseph "Randy" Smith of Jefferson City, Julie Smith of Jefferson City, Charles "Chuck" Smith (Paula) of Springfield, David Smith of Jefferson City and Larry Crocker (Margye) of Bullhead City; his grandchildren, Melissa Wilkinson, Melanie Frisbie, Ashley Smith Hall, Kristy Smith of Richmond, Sarah Johnson of Springfield, Hannah Jo Smith Coleman of Jefferson City, Levi Smith of Oregon, Marcus Oania of Florida and Abraham Aaron Hall of San Francisco, California; and his stepgrandsons, Technical Sergeant, Jason Suiter and Jordan Suiter. He is also survived by several great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
