He is survived by: his wife Vera Backman of Jefferson City; his son James Backman (Sue) of Westphalia; and his grandchildren, James Charles Backman (Kelli) of Rosebud, Eli Backman (Mallory) of Chamois, Josiah Backman of Westphalia, Jamie Asbury of Springfield and Victoria Holmes (Patrick) of Westphalia. He is also survived by 8 great grandchildren.
