He was predeceased by: his parents, Olen Green and Reba Pennington (Miller). He is survived by: his wife Mary E. Loughead; his children, Amy Lanier (Joe) of Raleigh and John M. Pennington of Piedmont, Missouri; and his grandchildren, Lily Lanier, Harrison Lanier and Jack Lanier.
