He was predeceased by: his parents, Rufus Hefley and Cleo Hefley (Carter); and his wife Susie Lavene Hefley (Vance). He is survived by: his sister Nancy Terry-Thompson (Hefley); and his children, Denise Dixon (Danny) and Vance Hefley (Julie). He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
