He was predeceased by: his parents, Jesse Peter Sr. and Eleanor Kate Lorey Niswonger; his brother Bill Niswonger; his son Jeff Niswonger; his grandchild Tracy Niswonger; and his great grandchild Tyler Manjarrez.
He is survived by: his wife Janie Niswonger of Cape Girardeau; his children, Joni Womack of Cape Girardeau and Jim Niswonger (Jodi) of Springville, Tennessee; and his sister Joann Curtis (Arlo) of Chesterfield, Missouri. He is also survived by five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
Memorial contributions may be given to Shawnee Hills Baptist Church.
