She was predeceased by: her parents, Pinkston Pervis and Ella Eliza Welker Niswonger; her husband Owen Scherer; her close friend Vernon Volkerding; her siblings, Larry, Gary, Melvin Niswonger and Belva Jean Litzenfelner; and her grandson James Baughn.

Memorial contributions can be made to Cape Girardeau County Historical Society Scholarship Program in the name of James Baughn.
