He was predeceased by: his father Carl Pensel; his grandparents, Edna Kasten Pensel, Alvin and Della Lange Schwab; and his brother-in-law James Meier.

He is survived by: his mother Dorothy Schwab Pensel (late Carl) of Jackson; his wife Terry Pensel of Jackson; his children, Ryan Pensel (Amanda) of Gordonville and Morgan Hankins (Chad) of Dexter, Missouri; his grandchildren, Peyton, Elliot Hankins, Addysen, Aubrey and Rhett Pensel; his sisters, Julie Woodruff of St. Louis and Nancy Meier (Jerry Loucks) of Steeleville, Illinois; and also, Charles, LaWanda Gorton of Jackson, Scott Gorton (Diana) of Gordonville and Stuart Gorton (Jennifer) of Longmont, Colorado.. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
