He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl W. Abernathy and Gustie Irene Hager Abernathy; and his sister Carol Jones. He is survived by: his daughter Kia Cochran (Darrell) of Jackson; his grandchildren, Daphne Warren, Luke Warren and Kilie Cook; his brother Marvin Abernathy of Fort Worth, Texas; and his stepbrothers, Stanley Kinder (Robin) of Millersville and Stweart Kinder of Scopus.
