He was predeceased by: his parents, Billy Joe Sr. and Alice Faye Mason Thompson; and his sister Alice Anne Ashmann. He is survived by: his wife Robin Thompson of Jackson; his son Billy Joe "B. J." III; his daughter-in-law Chelsea Thompson; his grandson Maverick of Richmond, Texas; his siblings, John M. (Teresa Thompson), Susan J. (Dwain Hahs) of Jackson, Jim N. (Trudy Thompson) of Sugar Land, Texas, Jack (Kim Thompson) of Jackson, Patricia (John Palisch) and Kevin (Donna Gross) of Jackson; and his close friend Nancy Collier (Clint) of Jackson. He is also survived by 14 nieces and nephews; 14 great-nieces and great-nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may take the form of contributions to the Jackson Tribal Council or Cape County Cowboy Church.
