He was predeceased by: his parents, William Gerdes and Irene Gerdes (White); his children, Linda Hirschel and Michael Gerdes; and his siblings, Donald Eugene Gerdes, Marion Franklin Brammer, Nancy, Dixie June, Martha Fay, Charlotte (Deborah) and Linda.
He is survived by: his children, Sherry Johnson and William (Jeanie Gerdes); his brother Larry; his sister-in-law Ronda Brammer; his close friend Darcy Avila; his grandsons, Ed Hirschel, William Gerdes II, Mark Gerdes, Michael Mason and Tony Mason; his stepmother Maude Gerdes; and his son-in-law Mike Johnson. He is also survived by 7 Great Great Grandchildren's and a host of niece, nephews other relatives and friends.
