He was predeceased by: his wife Sharon Dotson; his parents, Della Cowan and Eddie Dotson; his siblings, Maryjane, Ruby, Patty, Eddie and Gary; and his son Bobby.
He is survived by: his children, Laura Sharp (Rick), Pamela Horner, Annette Gull, Donna Jean and Ronnie; his stepdaughter Sherri Guerra; and his siblings, Virgil Dotson (Annette) and Carolyn. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
