Raymond Sample Sr. Obituary
May 6th, 1934 – September 27th, 2017 Raymond Lee Sample, Sr. was born May 6th, 1934 to Jess and Mary Jane Sample, the youngest of their three children. He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Nadine Benedict, brother Joseph Sample, and daughter Ramona. He married his best friend Argreta (Greta) Presley on July 19, 1985.
Ray was the proud father of Diana Sumrall, Raymond Sample Jr, Frank Sample, Alvin Sample, Stacie Handley, and his three stepsons Bill, Brian, and Christopher. Ray is also survived by nine grandchildren: Jerry, Joe, Tristan, Cameron, Autumn, Samantha, Nick, Lucas, and Lacee; and many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He served during the Korean War in the United States Navy, on the USS Pittsburg from 1952-1956. Ray retired from his position as Chief of Security for United Missouri Bank in 1988. He accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior in 2008 and began his walk with the Lord. He attended and was a member of Lifepoint Crossing Freewill Baptist Church.
