He was predeceased by: his parents, Leon South and Hazel South; and his wife Sue South. He is survived by: his children, Michael South (Terri) and Sandra South; his stepchildren, Brad Waterworth (Vicki), Kevin Waterworth and Brenda Palma (Noe); and his grandchildren, Kayleen South, Jake Finn, Danielle Isaacs (Jeremi), Emili O'Brien (Tyler), Amanda McKie (Aaron), Meridith Fitch (Eric), Bobby Waterworth, Kaelin Blackwell, Kylie Waterworth, Kelsey Waterworth, Ryan Palma (Tara) and Noe Palma. He is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers donation can be made to the Fairmount Christian Church, 641 S. Ash Ave, Independence, Mo. 64053 in memory of Leon.
