He is survived by: his children, John Diaz of Independence, MO and Tina Diaz-Smith of Des Moines, IA; his grandchildren, Jessica Diaz, Olivia Diaz, Justin Toomey and Erin Toomey; and his great grandchildren, Gideon, Gwen, Lilah, Ethan and Stella.
