It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joseph L. Hammond of Independence, Missouri, born in Kansas City, Missouri, who passed away on April 9, 2022, at the age of 55, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his father Richard Hammond; and his grandparents, Barbara Murray (Hammond), Curtis Hammond, Rebecca and George Degeare.

He is survived by: his mother Diane Hammond of Independence Missouri; his sister Trina Swope (Tom Swope) of Independence Missouri; and his nieces, Oshen Brixey (Shane Brixey) of Greenwood Missouri, Maddie Leslie (Nick Leslie), Ravyn Swope, Becka Valentine (Brett Valentine) and Tommie Swope of Independence Missouri.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the VFW Post 1000.
