He is survived by: his former wives, Mary Pat Hammon and Mary Pat Kinney; his child Shannon Kinney-Duh (Chris); his grandchildren, Kestan, Ashton and Grayson of Shawnee, KS; his children, Jeff Kinney of Overland Park, KS and Lindsay Weiss (Matt); his grandchildren, Brynn and Ryder of Overland Park, KS; his close friend Gemma Shaw of Independence, MO; and his siblings, Mike Kinney (Rondi) of Omaha, NE, Sue Kinney-Wieland (John) of Omaha, NE, Mary Clouse (Robby) of Council Bluffs, IA, Jeanne Buser (Ned) of Omaha, NE, Molly Campbell (Roger) of Bakersfield, CA, Matt Kinney (LeAnn) of San Angelo, TX, Teresa Kinney-Miller (Jim) of Arvada, CO, Steve Kinney (Barb) of Tiffin, IA and Eileen Kinney (Tom) of Longmont, CO. He is also survived by several nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
John was always ready to jump in and help friends and family in need, and volunteered for many Kansas City organizations including Operation Breakthrough, Friendship House, and the Parkinson's Foundation.
