Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Georgia was loved and cherished by many people including : her parents, Ace Dodge and Mildred Dodge; her husband Edwin Towers; her siblings, Sandra Wilson and Dwight Dodge, Jr.; her children, Cynthia and Harry Ebersohn, Jeffrey and Brendalee Towers; and her grandchildren/Great grandchildren; - Bryony, John, Tyler, Cassidy, Alysandra Beveridge; - Josh, Karen, Sterling, Sophie Vest; - Caitlin, William, Lilliana, Gabriel Marble; - Carey, Remington, Hayden and Kaelyn Killough.
Georgia Rose Towers was born in Glendale, CA on Sept. 20 , 1936 to Ace and Mildred Dodge. Her father was a heavy-weight prize fighter until Georgia was born and that is who we believe she got her “fighting spirit” from. In her younger years of life, the family moved a great deal and she lived in California, Washington state, Oklahoma, and Michigan. She claimed that all she wanted in life was a nice husband that was settled down in one place for her to raise a family. When she graduated from high school in Rockford, MI she married her high school sweetheart, Edwin Towers, who was a hometown boy who had only traveled to Sugar Valley, GA a few times to go on family vacations. Ed joined the Navy a year after they were married and Georgia became a full-time housewife and mother to two children – Cynthia and Jeffrey, while traveling up and down the Atlantic and Pacific coasts for the next 23 years. In those transition years, she and Ed joined the Community of Christ church in Chula Vista, CA where she served as a Pastor, and as a District President Counselor. Aside from her spiritual wisdom and sensitivity, she was gifted with the ability to remember people’s names and to make everyone feel valued and comfortable in her home and in her presence. She also served as an Evangelist in her church, both in the San Diego and Independence areas.
Her most notable work accomplishment (and job she dearly loved) was her 10 years of volunteer work at Center Point Hospital as the Assistant Coordinator of all Volunteers and Chaplains, where she received the “Frist Humanitarian Award” – “In recognition of exemplary service to patients and the healthcare community.”
Georgia was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2019 and fought the cancer through several chemotherapy regimens. She entered in-home Hospice care on 1 December 2021 and God called her home at 9 PM on 3 December, where she had been surrounded by her loved ones throughout the day.
