He was predeceased by: his children, Lesa Jean Howerton and Paul Richard Howerton II. He is survived by: his wife Sigrid L. Ockerstrom-Howerton; and his sons, John E. Howerton (Becky) of Crockett, CA, Joel D. Howerton (Veronica) of Lee's Summit, MO and James A. Howerton (Deanna) of Independence, MO. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
