Billy J. Newlon Obituary

Billy Joseph Newlon, age 71, of Independence passed away Tuesday May 31, 2022. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 11, 2022 at Oak Grove Christian Church, 118 SW 22nd St, Oak Grove, MO.

Billy was born January 3rd, 1951 in Springfield, Missouri to Billy Gene Newlon and Lucy Lorene (Hornbeck) Newlon. He grew up in Northeast Kansas City and attended Northeast High School. While working at Southern Awning and Iron he learned his craft of making beautiful doors, gates and fences that can still be seen throughout Kansas City. He loved the outdoors, fishing, and camping. Billy was a self-taught engineer and created things that other people could only imagine. He never came across a mechanical problem that he couldn't solve. Everyone that knew him loved him for his kind heart and soft-spoken authority and fantastic sense of humor. He attended Oak Grove Christian Church. He loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren and will be missed by all.

Billy leaves behind his son, Mickey Newlon (Diane); his daughters: Krisi Miller (Daxon), Brenda Pereiras (Lisa), Amanda Stidham (Tommy); his brothers: Louis Newlon, Joe Newlon, Bob Newlon, Robert Fairman, John Cox, Junior Caswell, and his sisters Mary Johnson, and Clara Caswell, plus five grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

He was proceeded in death by both of his parents; his brother, Harry Gene Newlon; his sister, Janell Ann Fairman and his grandson Levi Newlon.

Obituary submitted by family.
