She was predeceased by: her parents, Everett Price Murphy and Marie Murphy (Akins); her husband John Richard Shelton; her son John Richard Jr.; her grandson Jonathan Paul Sloan; and her sisters, June and Julia.
She is survived by: her children, Judy Moorman (Roger) of Windsor, CO, Sherry Magel of Independence and Reverend Robert Shelton (Sandy) of Plattsburg; her daughter-in-law Terri Shelton of San Diego, CA; her siblings, Jan Allegro (Dominic) of Kansas City and Everett Murphy (Freda) of Blue Springs; and her grandchildren, Jarad Shelton (Samantha) of Independence, Sean Shelton (Morgan) of Lee's Summit, Brad Moorman, Bruce Moorman, Troy Shelton, Nichole Williams, Bryan Moorman, Melissa Bloomfield, James Shelton, Erin Wilkerson, Luke Shelton and Zachary Shelton. She is also survived by 25 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Sycamore Hills Baptist Church or First Baptist Church, Plattsburg Building Fund in memory of Betty Shelton.
