She was predeceased by: her parents, Mahlon Powell and Nettie Powell (Lepper); her husband Max Meals; her children, Margaret Johnson and Harold Meals; and her granddaughter Christy Lea Meals.
She is survived by: her son Sam Meals of Independence, Missouri. She is also survived by three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; extended family and friends.
