He was predeceased by: his parents, Louis Volmert and Alma Volmert (Luebbert) of Vienna; his sister Caroline James (Carrie); his brothers-in-law, Frank James and Duane Harris; and his great-nephew Jameson Harris.

He is survived by: his former wife Elaine Joan James; his wife Linda Buechter Hix; his daughters, Amy Wilson (Monty) and Angie Volmert; his stepdaughters, Heather Luttrell (Stacey), Madeleine Cochran (Ryan) and Nikki Jones (Matt Rowden); his grandchildren, Emily Sirois (Matt), Erica Sullivan and Luke Sullivan; his great grandchild Cara Sirois; his sister Donna Harris; and his caregiver Diana Luttrell. He is also survived by 11 step-grandchildren; one step great grandchild.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to Hope House of Lake Ozark or St. Anthony Cemetery.
