He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, William Jasper Carter and Elsie Faye Carter (Garrison); his wife Sandy S. Hetherington; his children, Claude Carter (Victoria) of Florida, James Carter (Monica) of Holden, MO, John Carter (Juanita) of Pleasant Hill, MO, Neil Carter (Sally) of Holden, MO and Marcella McCoy of Odessa, MO; his brother Wilmer Carter (Kay Leibfried) of Holden, MO; his grandchildren, Jaramia Carter (Rebecca) of California, Jolie Carter, Brad Kelly of Blue Springs, MO, Dexter Carter (Danielle) of Raytown, MO, Jasper Carter (Kasey Briscoe) of Oak Grove, MO, Cassandra McCoy of California, Jessie Carter (Andre Jones) of Columbia, MO, Andrew McCoy (Danielle) of Odessa, MO, David Carter (Kelsey) of Holden, MO and Douglas Carter (Hailey) of New York; his great grandchildren, Kenlie, Kyndall, Kole, Karson, Hagen, Zenna, Kinsley and Alivia; and his son Robert.

With social distancing concerns in mind, the service will be held at Forward Community Church in Holden at 11:00 a. m. Tuesday, February 2nd, with Pastor Dexter Snyder officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City or Holden VFW Post #5844.
