She was predeceased by: her parents, John Brooks and Mattie Brooks; her husband Curmel "Red" James; her siblings, Charles Brooks, Chester Brooks, Kenneth Brooks, Eva Faye Brooks Yandell, Alice Fread and William Fread; her daughter Marcia Hubbard; and her son-in-law Steven Fenwick.

She is survived by: her children, Linda Piatchek (Thomas), Mickey Fenwick and Ronnie James (Vicky); her grandchildren, Renee, Dana, Melissa, Stefanie, Alisha, Valarie, Megan, Craig, Brooke and Lindsey; her great grandchildren, Christopher, Johnathan, Avery, Hayley, Gabby, Brie, Gabe, Aubrey, Bella, Mia, Chase, Briley, Briella, Reagan and Liam; and her son-in-law Virgil Hubbard.
