The passing of Jo Shafer of Higginsville, Missouri leaves a void in the hearts of many, as we bid farewell to a loving soul who departed on March 11, 2025 at the age of 88. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Jasper Robertson and Pearl Robertson (Walker); her husband Bill; her siblings, Robert Dean Robertson (Loreatha), Wallace "Bud" Roberson (Lenora) and Margaret Barber; her son David Shafer; and her grandson Derek Gillilan.

She is survived by: her daughters, Sheri Lovercamp (Randy) and Pam Gillilan (Robert); her daughter-in-law Deanna Shafer; her siblings, William Robertson and Hazel Davidson (Bill); her grandchildren, Rachael Meyers (Eric), Emma Gillilan, Zachery Gillilan (Julia), Samantha Tibai (Ernie), Glenna Wilson (Garrat), Ryan Shafer (Jennifer) and Matthew Lovercamp (Kaisee); her great grandchildren, Brady Meyers, Jason Meyers, Kinley Gillilan, Grace Gillilan, Derek Gillilan, Wesley Tibai (Ariana), Emmett Tibai, Anderson Tibai, Wrenly Shafer, Andee Lovercamp, Owen Lovercamp, Kaden Wilson (Brooke Young) and Gillian Blackburn (Carson); and her great great grandchildren, Denver Wilson, Warren Blackburn and Lyla Blackburn.

Visitation was held on Sunday, March 16th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church (111 Fairground Ave, Higginsville, MO 64037). A memorial service was held on Monday, March 17th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location. The inurnment was held on Monday, March 17th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 12:15 PM at the Columbarium Wall Inurnment Mar.

Memorial contributions may be sent to the Derek William Gillilan Memorial Scholarship.

“I grew up living next door to JoAnn and her family. They lived on Wilson and we lived on South Delaware. She and I were baptized at the Christian Church when we were teens. I always looked up to her. Her sister Hazel a very dear friend. Sorry not able to attend services as I live in Utah and unable to travel. So sorry for the loss of Jo and David. Prayers and hugs for her family.”
