He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Albert Hartbauer and Carrie Hartbauer (Kern); his daughters, Sharon Battocletti (Mario) and Diane Hatfield-Gamblin; his grandchildren, Robert, Amy Battocletti, Jenifer, Brian Dannegger, Jessica Mallinckrodt, Donnie, Aleasha Hatfield, Patrick J. Hatfield (Dianna) and Jeffery Hatfield (Alesia); his stepgrandchildren, Stacey, Phillip Henrikson and Adam Kaatman (Molly); his wife Doris Hartbauer; and his son Donald A. Hartbauer Jr. Graveside. He was also cherished by 11 great-grandchildren, 7 step-great-grandchildren.
