He was predeceased by: his parents, Morris V. Goddard and Mary "Louise" Goddard (Dorsett); his siblings, Alva Morris, Paul Hadley (Louise) and Jerry Ann Champ (Chuck); his brother-in-law Don Brooks; and his daughter-in-law Melanie Goddard.
He is survived by: his wife Margaret A. Smith; his children, Ron Goddard (Cher), Bob Goddard and Debra Schewe (Rick); his grandchildren, Steve Goddard, Crystal Shultz, Heather Sanders (BJ), Tony Rogers (Amber) and Jennifer Ross (Antoine); and his great grandchildren, Linnsey, John Shultz, Bristol, Liam Sanders, Hayden Rogers, Damien, Kendall, Hunter Goddard and Aubree Ross.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Walter's memory to One Community Hospice, Independence MO or Children's Mercy Hospital Kansas City, MO.
