He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, John Henry and Leona Mathis Nichols; his wife Anna Fred; his siblings, Ervin of Harrisburg, Terry Nichols of Harrisburg and Henrietta Schouten (Paul) of Harrisburg; and his grandchildren, Kyle Nichols (Sammy) of Harrisburg, Candis Brittain (Pat) of Augusta, Tricia Cunningham (Michael) of Columbia, Krystal Willis (Ashley) of Marion, Chelsea Willis (Jeremiah) of Columbia and Gabrielle Willis (Chris) of Columbia. He was also cherished by 10 great grandchildren.
