He was predeceased by: his parents, Greene Franklin Carey and Mary Ellen Carey; and his siblings, Earnest Lee, Robert Carey and Virginia Aileen Level.

He is survived by: his wife Louise Hord; his siblings, Sue Sutton and Bill Carey (Joann); his children, Debby Skaggs (Danny), Rhonda Parton, Brenda Via and Bruce Carey (Jerrilyn); his grandchildren, Damon Skaggs (Rebecca), Devin Skaggs (Heather), Derek Skaggs (Brandy), Aaron Parton (Andrea), Andrea Goble (Myles), Zach Via (Katy), Cory Via (Lauren), Nathan Carey (Samantha) and Jace Carey (Kamille); his great grandchildren, Erika McGrath (Jake), Blaine, Makinna, Kyra, Dalton, Ryland, Brielle, Lincoln, Lukas, Logan, Isabelle, Charlotte, Johnny, Carter, Henry, Josephine, Finley, Layton, Aven, June, Kate, Paxton, Paisley, Lorelei, Baylor and Abigail; and his great great grandchild Kinzlee.
