He was predeceased by: his parents, Bobby McClaran and Margaret McClaran (Jobe); his brother Gary Laine McClaran; and his parents-in-law, Sammie and Cathie Stafford.

He is survived by: his wife Lisa McClaran (Stafford); his sons, Matt McClaran of Harris, Dustin McClaran (Traci) of Harris, Cody McClaran of Harris and Monte McClaran of Kearney; his grandchildren, Ryan McClaran, Laney McClaran and Tate McClaran; and his siblings-in-law, Laurie Stafford (Lynn Williams) of Pattonsburg and Larry Stafford (Julie) of Humphreys. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
