He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Bowen and Sharon Stover Bowen; and his uncle Jerry Stover. He is survived by: his son Leland Smith of Hannibal, MO; and his siblings, Richard Bowen (Julia) of Hannibal, MO and Georgia Bowen (Tim Graham) of Hannibal, MO. He is also survived by three grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Great River Honor Flight.
