He was predeceased by: his parents, Elizabeth Jean Waganer (Vaughn) and Delbert Glen Murphy; his brother Glenn Murphy; his nephew David Harsell II; his stepfather Randy Waganer; and his close friend Kevin Guilfoyle.
He is survived by: his wife Kathy L. Murphy of Hannibal; his children, Kelly Murphy of Hannibal, Tanya Hehr (Keith) of Fort Madison, IA, Glen Murphy (Desiree) of Pembroke, KY and Ami Null (Luke) of Belleville, IL; his stepchildren, Dedra Hallows of Hannibal and Jeffrey Hallows (Marcy) of Hannibal; his siblings, Cathy Beelman (Randy), Michael Murphy of Springfield, MO and Roxie Harsell of Quincy, IL; and his grandchildren, Aiden, Aubree, Caleb, Kristen, Ariana, Mackenzie, Lillian, Autumn, Wyatt, Alexis, Zoey and Elijah. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
The family suggests memorials be made to the James Cary Cancer Center in Hannibal in care of Davis Funeral Home, La Grange, MO.
